Tortola, British Virgin Islands, December 30, 2009 - The Shell ‘Power Up 2 Win’ campaign came to a close on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 23, 2009 when Mr Henry Kettle, manager of the Shell Botanic Service Station, drew the promotion winner's name. Ms Deborah Benjamin, country manager, Sol St Lucia Ltd (BVI Office),  announced Mr Myron Rubaine of Tortola the owner of a brand new, Suzuki Grand Vitara 2009.

ZROD FM was on the scene and called Mr Rubaine to break the news live on air. Stunned and doubtful of the authenticity of the call, Mr Rubaine drove to the Botanic Service Station to verify the message. Mr and Mrs Kettle and Ms Benjamin were at the station to greet Mr Rubaine on his arrival.

"I still can't believe it!" said Mr Rubaine addressing the gathering. "I'll know it's true when I get in the driver's seat!"

Ms Benjamin congratulated Mr Rubaine and invited him to fill up his new car with Shell V-Power® fuel.

A delighted Mr Rubaine hooted his horn all the way out of the station and homeward as he drove off in his unexpected, early Christmas present from Sol.

The region-wide, Power Up 2 Win promotion was launched in the BVI on October 24, 2009 and ended on December 19. Drivers were eligible to submit an entry slip for every $25 spent on Shell V-Power® or Shell diesel at participating Shell service stations.

The promotion focused on reducing the impact of fuel emissions on the environment and optimising engine efficiency. Both Shell V-Power® fuel and the 2009 Grand Vitara meet the criteria of offering a cleaner and more economical option for drivers.

V-Power® is a high-octane fuel that protects all gasoline engines. Nitrogen enriched cleaning agents help lower emissions by actively cleaning intake valves and injectors improving the efficiency of the engine. The new range of engine featured in the Grand Vitara 2009 offers improved economy and produces lower CO2 emissions.

Sol is the largest petroleum company in the BVI and supplies the marine community at Hodges Creek, Nanny Cay Marina, the Moorings, Village Cay, Bitter End, Biras Creek, Peter Island, Guana Island, Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour and Leverick Bay. Sol is a committed supporter of community initiatives including the BVI Car Show, the BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival, the Glass Project and is a partner of the BVI Athletics Association.
