Tortola, British Virgin Islands, April 12, 2010 - Six individuals who visited the BVI Spring Regatta Village this year each won a free round-trip flight from Beef Island, Tortola to San Juan, Puerto Rico courtesy of Sol St Lucia Ltd (BVI Office).  Deborah Benjamin, country manager for Sol, announced the results of the free raffle draw during the BVI Spring Regatta awards ceremony held on Sunday, April 4 at the event venue, Nanny Cay Resort and Marina. The winners are Alison Romney, Doreen Bent, Gregory Lemmon, Denise Stanley, Preta Karran and Owen Phinn.

The free raffle was open to all visitors to the Sol tent at the Regatta Village. Two winners were drawn each evening at 7.30pm, Friday through Sunday.

“This is the second year that Sol has run a free raffle at the BVI Spring Regatta,” said Ms Benjamin. “We decided to offer the free flights as a tie-in with Sol’s role as supplier of Aviation Gasoline (AvGas) and Jet A-1 fuel to the commercial carriers and numerous private jets that land in the BVI. Anyone over the age of 18 could benefit from the prize so we are pleased that we were able to include our international visitors as potential winners of this Easter weekend bonus. Hopefully it will be an incentive for these visitors to come back to our shores before the year’s end!”

Sol also provided participating skippers with a roll of marine absorbent pads to soak up oil-based liquids such as fuel while repelling water. The product is designed to minimise the pollution of marine waters and marine life and is used by Sol in oil spill management exercises.

Sol is the largest petroleum company in the BVI and supplies the marine community at Hodges Creek, Nanny Cay Marina, the Moorings, Village Cay, Bitter End, Biras Creek, Peter Island, Guana Island, Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour and Leverick Bay. Sol is a committed supporter of community initiatives including the BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival and the Glass Project and is a partner of the BVI Athletics Association.
