Tortola, British Virgin Islands, July 5, 2010 – Brandywine Bay Restaurant and Capriccio di Mare in Tortola, British Virgin Islands have been recognized by Fodor’s Travel, the foremost name in travel publishing, as a 2010 Fodor’s Choice selection. This distinction represents a remarkable achievement and recognizes both Brandywine Bay and Capriccio di Mare as leaders in their field for service, quality, and value in the 2010 year.

Since 1988, Fodor’s Travel has been awarding the Fodor’s Choice distinction to only the very best hotels, restaurants and attractions around the world. Every year, Fodor’s writers experience, examine and evaluate thousands of hotels, restaurants and attractions in their travels across the globe. While every business included in a Fodor’s guide is deemed worth a traveler’s time, only fifteen percent of those selections are awarded the very highest, Fodor’s Choice designation by Fodor’s editors.

“From hidden-away restaurants to can't-miss museums, Fodor’s Choice selections recognize the top sights, properties, and experiences our editors and updaters have found in their travels,” says Fodor’s publisher Tim Jarrell. “These places are the best of the best, providing a remarkable experience in their price range or category.”

As  2010 Fodor’s Choice recipients Brandywine Bay Restaurant and Capriccio di Mare receive special recognition in the current Fodor’s guidebook to this region and on Fodors.com.

“We are delighted to receive these distinguishing awards,” said Davide Pugliese, owner and executive chef for Brandywine Bay and Capriccio di Mare. “My wife, Cele, and I set up Brandywine Bay and Capriccio di Mare to offer two distinct dining experiences.  At Brandywine Bay, the ambience is more elegant and we offer a changing, fine-dining menu. The dishes are my original recipes influenced by my Tuscan heritage combined with flavours from the Caribbean.

“Capriccio di Mare is a more casual venue that attracts a regular clientele of residents and visitors that come in for the good Italian fare of pasta, pizza, panini and more. We are proud to be assisted at both restaurants by a dedicated team who were instrumental in helping us receive the recognition from Fodor’s.”

Brandywine Bay Restaurant is built on the site of an old gunnery over looking the Sir Francis Drake Channel. Celebrating over twenty years of distinctive dining, the restaurant’s reputation now is legendary for its tantalizing, varying selection from Pork Belly with Caramelised Onion Chipotle, to Pumpkin Crusted Tuna with Pumpkin Wasabi Mousse.

Capriccio di Mare is a Caffé Italiano located in the heart of Road Town, Tortola, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Forming part of an old estate and located on the site of an old gunnery overlooking the Sir Francis Drake Channel, Brandywine Bay Restaurant, with its unassumingly elegant, flagstone dining room, has become a BVI institution.

The variable menu changes depending on fresh daily ingredients and choices range from home-made mozzarella, to Livorno-style stuffed rabbit, to calf's liver in crème de cassis, to Davide's signature roast duck.

A recent addition to Brandywine Bay Restaurant is the Cicchetti Lounge where guests can sample cicchetti (chi-KET-tee) - Venetian style tapas - such as bresaola & goat cheese, snail dumplings, and bacalao fritters.

Brandywine boasts an extensive martini menu complete with house specialties. Brandywine Bay Restaurant is open for dinner Monday through Saturday from 6.00pm. Reservations are recommended. Tel: 1 (284) 495-2301.
