Nanny Cay's marina has the capacity to accommodate the majority of the participating yachts which has numbered more than 160. The boatyard, on-site chandlery, marine contractors and shops also provide the boaters with extensive stock, repair and maintenance services.
The Regatta Village, located on the beach at Nanny Cay, receives over fifteen hundred visitors during the four-day regatta period. The Village includes sponsor and vendor booths as well as bars and restaurant concession stands.
"Nanny Cay has been an ideal partner these past years," said Mr Phillips. "There has been a good synergy between the committee's efforts to promote the event and the expansion of facilities and services at Nanny Cay. We have a strong, team-spirited working relationship with Miles and his crew and we are delighted that we can look forward to another half a decade of delivering a great experience to all the regatta and sailing festival sailors and supporters."
2011 marks the fortieth anniversary of the BVI Spring Regatta which started as a sailing event for a handful of 19' Squibs and 14' Sunfish. The three-day Sailing Festival was introduced as a prelude to the regatta in 2003. The organising committee in partnership with the BVI Chamber of Commerce and Hotel Association will be rolling out special events throughout the week of sailing to mark the occasion.
Nanny Cay Resort & Marina is the BVI's premier marina, located between Road Town and West End on Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. Its full-service marina has berths for 180 yachts. The boatyard has storage for 260 yachts and two boat lifts of 50 and 70 tons capacity. Nanny Cay also includes a 40-room hotel and new waterfront townhouses for purchase and rental, two al fresco restaurants, swimming pool and bar, a chandlery, a small supermarket, shops and boutiques, a dive shop, a water sports center, free WiFi service, and a gym and spa.
